The Aurobindo Ashram forms the nucleus of many activities and trade in Pondicherry. It is a product of Aurbindo Ashram

Sri Aurobindo�s inspirations and the Mother, Mirra Alfassa�s earnestness. The main Ashram on Rue de la Marine houses th buildings where Sri Aurobindo and Mirra Alfassa lived and died.

Auroville is an experiment in international living. It is a developing town 10 km from Pondicherry. The Matri Mandir is a centre of meditation and an architectural marvel. People from all parts of the world come and stay here for weeks where they learn meditation.

Auroville is envisioned as a universal Town, where people from different nationalities, faiths and beliefs, can live in peace and harmony. The construction of this �Universal Town� was started in 1968 under the guidance of The Mother, a Paris �born painter musician who became Sri Aurobindo�s disciple and close companion from 1924 till his death in 1950. the development of this utopia is still in progress. Several countries have offered to set up permanent pavilions, reflecting the culture and ethos of their countries.

SUGGESTED ITINERARY :

Day 01 : Arrive Chennai : half day tour of Chennai visiting : The capital of the state of Tamil Nadu and the cultural Gateway to South India, Chennai is in some respects unlike other Indian cities. The National Art Gallery, the Museum with some beautiful temple prizes and the finest collection of South Indian bronzes are quite interesting. St. Mary�s Church, Peoples Park and the beautiful Marina Beach which is the second longest beach in the world as well as the clock towers are worth visiting. Overnight at your hotel.

Day 02 : Chennai/Pondicherry : Morning after breakfast leave for Pondicherry by surface ( 163 kms/3 hrs) on arrival check in to at hotel or Ashram at Aurovilloe. Afternoon sightseeing of Pondicherry visiting : War Memorial, Statue of Joan of Arc,Aurobindo Ashram, Manakula Vinayakar Temple, Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ and the beach.

Day 03 : Stay at Aurovile

Day 04 : Pondicherry/Chennai/out � Transfer in time to Chennai airport for your flight back home.
