With a relaxing boat ride at Lake Pichola in the beautiful city of Udaipur also known as city of lakes marks the peculiarity of Rajasthan.

Tour Highlights

The tour starts in Delhi, the capital of India.  Join Bestway Tours Biking as we cycle through villages where we will share the road with goats and camels, sacred cows; see local women pumping water at the communal well and be overwhelmed by magnificent forts rising above deserts and towns.

The diverse State of Rajasthan is home to the Rajput warrior clan whose legacy is an amazing collection of forts and incredibly impressive castles and palaces. 

This tour is fully supported – cycle as little or as much as you wish each day.  On most days a reasonably fit cyclist will be able to cycle the entire distance each day.

Essential Trip Information

  • The prices are Per Person on twin sharing basis.

  • The price is only valid for the mentioned departure date.

  • Please note that smoking is prohibited in public and all parts of the hotels except in designated areas and bedrooms, where smoking is permitted.  Should you desire a smoking bedroom, please let us know.  The fulfillment of this request is subject to availability of smoking rooms and is not guaranteed. 

  • Unless specified, check-in at hotels in India is at 14:00 Hrs and check out is at 12:00 Hrs

  • Our liability does not arise in case of Force Majeure (political disturbances, natural phenomenon etc.)

  • Reporting time at the International at the airport is generally 3 hrs prior to departure of the flight.

  • Check-in counters of most flights close approximately 45 minutes before departure and boarding gates close about 15 minutes prior departure.

  • To complete this trip it is important that you are both confident and competent in riding a bicycle

  • This trip covers anywhere between 25 to 90 km of cycling each day, so a reasonable level of fitness is required, although you’ll have plenty of rest breaks. A support vehicle will also be with you at all times, so if you get tired you can jump in. This trip is suitable for those seeking an active adventure and is a wonderful way to see the sights of Rajasthan from a different perspective

  • We visit a number of temples on this trip, which requires a certain level of modesty. Please bring clothes that cover the arms and shoulders, with pants/skirts that go past the knee. A light-scarf is also ideal for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot

  • While riding the bikes you’ll be exposed to the elements, so please ensure you’re well prepared with waterproof clothing suitable for both warm and cold weather conditions

  • Bicycle hire is included in your trip price. Please advise your height at time of booking so as we can organise a suitable sized bike

  • On this trip we have a single leader that rides with the group, and another that drives the support vehicle

  1. Day 1 - Arrive Delhi
    Namaste! You will be welcomed in the traditional Indian way with hands clapped together and then transferred to your Hotel.

  2. Day 2 - Delhi/Kota (By Train Kota Jan Shatabdi Express) (Chair Car seating) Runs Daily Departure from Delhi at 13:15 Hrs; Arrive Kota at: 20:00 Hrs

After an early breakfast, we check out from our hotel and leave for our orientation tour of New Delhi also known as Lutyen’s Delhi, named after the famous British architect Edwin Lutyens. The capital of India is a reflection of the old and new of India, a blend of Mughal India, Hindu India, British India and modern independent India.  We drive past the famous India Gate, the Houses of Parliament, and Connaught Place. Our first stop is at the Birla House (closed on Monday & 30th Jan), which was the former residence of Mahatma Gandhi. On January 30, 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated here. The house was given by Birla family one of the famous Industrial group in India. The house has now been converted into a museum which houses some of the rarest collection of photographs and history of Mahatma Gandhi. After a quick lunch we are transferred to Railway Station in time to board our train to Kota. The train offers airline style seating. (Food for purchase on Board Train) On arrival in Kota, we are met by our local host and are transferred to our Hotel, Umed Bhawan Palace.

  3. Day 3 - Kota/Bijaipur: Total Distance: 157 Kms; Cycling Distance 69 Kms
    After breakfast you will be fitted to your bicycle or unpack your own prior to exploring the nearby countryside. Later, we head towards our next destination Bijaipur, a small village to the south west of Kota. On the way, you will take lunch at Bhainsrorgarh Fort. Castle Bijaipur was built in early 16th century AD by Rao Vijay Singh, descendent of great Rajput warrior Shakti Singh. Bijaipur was a strategic location in the former kingdom of Mewar, as it defended the frontiers against the invading Mughal and Maratha armies. The castle has been renovated and converted into a heritage hotel and offers views of the Vindhyachal ranges, the valley, lake and village encircling it. The roads carry very little vehicle traffic, but you will come across goats and camels.

  4. Day 4 - Bijaipur: Optional day ride of 70 km
    A day to either soak up the atmosphere of the castle or explore the surrounding countryside by bike and see the local way of life in this part of Rajasthan. We enjoy lunch at Panagarh Lake Resort; surrounding the 1000-year-old Pangarh Fort, is the Lotus Lake. On the western banks of the lake, a luxury camp has been set up by the Bijaipur family. Located around a set of very old mango trees, the camps serve the most sought-after element – PEACE.  Return to Bijaipur after lunch to spend a relaxing afternoon.

  5. Day 5 - Bijaipur to Udaipur: Total distance: 150 km (Cycling distance: Bijaipur/Chittaurgarh 34 Kms )
    lake-palace-udaipur After breakfast, we head west on minor roads passing plowed fields and small villages towards Chittaurgarh. On hitting the highway or the town limits of Chittaurgarh, we drive the final distance up to Chittaurgarh, which is India's largest fort and the ultimate symbol of Rajput chivalry and pride. The pride and glory of Rajasthan echoes with the tales of romance and valor unique to the Rajput tradition, the town boasts ruined citadel, where the royal past lives in its imposing forts, graceful palaces and spectacular chhatris. There is the opportunity to visit Chittaurgarh fort, Vijay stambh, (Victory Tower) Kirti stambh, (Tower of Fame) Rana Kumbha's Palace, and Padmini's Palace. Later we drive down to Hotel Pratap Palace for lunch. After lunch we drive down to the Old Highway towards Udaipur to our next stop from where we can further pedal down to Udaipur approx 30 KMS. On arrival in Udaipur, we check in our hotel.

  6. Day 6 - Udaipur: day Ride cycling 44 km from Udaipur to Jhadol
    Today we take a beautiful day ride from Udaipur to Jhadol Safari Resort. We drive from hotel to Rampuria Circle where we start riding; a superb day cycling on narrow paved roads through rolling country and little villages. In the afternoon we enjoy lunch at Jhadol Safari Resort; set like a precious jewel, an emerald in desert country, this oasis is nestled in the foothills of the Aravalis at the edge of a magnificent lake with gently lapping waters.

  7. Day 7 - Udaipur –Kumbhalgarh (102 Km) Cycling distance 58 Km
    kumbhalgarh-fort We drive out of town to commence cycling on a quiet road – a little climbing through pleasant rural countryside with increasing views. On arrival at Kumbhalgarh, we check in and enjoy our lunch. After lunch we visit impressive Kumbhalgarh Fort.  Built by Rana Kumbha in mid-15th century, Kumbhalgarh is the second most important bastion of Mewar, after Chittaurgarh and covering an area of 12 sq km. 

     

    The fort lies 1,100 meters above sea level and enclosed within its fortified ramparts are palaces, temples, fields, water sources and farms fully self-contained to withstand a long siege. Kumbhalgarh provides an excellent view of the countryside where many fierce battles were fought.

  8. Day 8 - Kumbhalgarh –Ranakpur: Distance: 54 km
    In the morning after breakfast we cycle to Ranakpur, an easy ride on a quiet road that includes a major downhill. Named after Rana Kumbha, Ranakpur is renowned for some marvelously carved Jain temples dating from 1439; it is amongst the five holiest places of the Jain community.  There is the opportunity to visit the impressive Ranakpur temples if you wish.

  9. Day 9 - Ranakpur – Udaipur: 90 km
    city-palace-udaipur In the morning after breakfast we drive to Udaipur. Today we take city tour of Udaipur, visiting the City Palace, Saheliyon Ki Bari and the folklore museum where we can see a presentation of the string puppet show typical to this area.

    After breakfast we take you to Udaipur airport for your flight to Cochin for Kerala Bike tour, or to Delhi and home.
