Holi festival tour
With the onset of spring season, India greets summer with the colorful festival of Holi. Though, people from almost every part of India celebrate this festival but it is primarily a North Indian festival and interestingly every region has a different way of celebrating this festival. Uttar Pradesh’s holi is completely different from the type of holi that is celebrated in Gujrat. Similarly Mumbai showcases a completely different flavor. There are various mythological stories related to this festival as well. One such is the story of Holika, an evil enchantress who was the cousin of a demon king Hiranyakashyapu. The king had a devotee son named Prahlada. Prahlada was a disgrace to his glory. He planned on killing the boy with his magical cousin who could magically save herself from fire. Soon enough he invited his sister to kill the boy for him and holika sat on a pyre with prahlada in her lap. It is believed that by the grace of God prahlada was saved while Holika got burnt down to ashes. In many regions of India, a large pyre is being ignited a night before the holi celebrations.
