Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai is one of the busiest railway stations in the world, with an average footfall of 3 million passengers every day. The site is an epitome of British Empire’s victory in India. Initially called as the Victoria Terminus, after independence in 1992 the station was renamed as Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. The name is taken after a great Indian Ruler who fought against the Mogul empire in India. The terminus was designed by Frederick William Stevens keeping in mind old gothic style by mixing it with mogul architecture. The paintings and animal designing engraved on the walls is a site to behold. This great architecture took 10 years to complete, longest time any building took to come in existence in those times. It’s been almost 100 years for the site to be intact and thus was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
